settling back in

It's been completely unintentional to be absent from my little online corner, but it happens.  Deep down {or maybe not so deep down} we have been trying to use up every second of our dwindling summer.  There is only a week and a half until school starts, and while I'm ready for cooler weather, football games, hot chocolate, long sleeves, and everything else that autumn brings... the "end" feels a little too close for comfort.

After spending our last few weekends away, it feels good to be home.  When we arrived home from St. George two weekends ago, we decided that it was time to "sleep train" again.  And you parents know, sleeping training is horrible.  Wonderful when you finally have a child sleeping through the night again, horrible while you listen to crying for days on end... mind you, in the middle of the night.  It took longer this time around, 8 days to be exact, but the babe is finally sleeping much better.  And hopefully, not to curse it, but she slept all night last night.  And it was wonderful!  Except for the fact that I wanted to stab my mattress to death.  It's terribly uncomfortable and I'm thinking that part of my weekend will be spent at the Sleep Number store weighing the pros and cons of investing in a new one.  We shall see.

I am not going to promise my full return, but we are alive and well.  There a couple things left that I'd like to do for the summer and I think we'll continue taking it easy and spending time together.  This equals spending less time on the computer, which is a pretty great compromise.

Here's to soaking up the last few weeks of warm weather, summer nights, and no school!  Although, it will be nice to get back into our regular schedule.  Plus, there are lots of things to catch up on!
