A Hike to the Y

On the 4th of July, we opted to head out on a tiny adventure. Sadee has been asking to hike to the Y and mostly, to hike just in general. We are always wanting to try setting new traditions and take advantage of doing these activities while our kids still want to. We invited my siblings to join. With granola bars and water packed up, we drove up to the base of the mountain, hopped out of the car and started the journey on the trail. It was probably within the first 5 minutes that I was asked if we were almost to the top. Typical. Cam was being carried in our ErgoBaby, but quickly wanted down because it was hot. His little legs hiked the remainder of the hike, which was probably about half of the hike.

As we hiked, we could hear the Provo 4th of July parade and music playing from the 5K run. The trees were so green and everyone was happy. There are few things that feel better than getting out in the mountains and working hard. And boy oh boy, hiking the Y hard! I was so proud of my kiddos and siblings for hiking up that trail - no complaints, no whining. Music to my ears!

I kind of think that hiking the Y on the morning of the 4th of July should be a thing for us. What do you think? Although there are probably a trillion other hikes we'd like to try (like The Grotto) since the Y is one of maybe 2 or 3 I've ever done. The best part of hiking is that my kids actually enjoy it quite a lot - there are few things better than that.

Here's to adventurous little souls!

Sadee is absolutely in love with this girl, her aunt and best friend. She looks up to her in every way.

A girl + her personality
When you hike with a "tweenager", you take selfies.
He took the tiniest little steps in all the world, but those tiny steps got him alllllll they way up.
